Tigers win 3-0 in non-conference match

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Behind 14 kills from Kori Bullard and 37 assists from Stormi Leonard, the Ouachita Tigers defeated the Williams Baptist Lady Eagles 3-0 on Monday. Ouachita moved to 10-6 on the season and 4-3 in the Great American Conference.
 
Williams Baptist (11-10) took an early 12-8 lead in the first set before the Tigers eventually took a 17-16 lead. A 9-1 run by Ouachita ended the set with the Tigers ahead 25-17. Bullard had four kills in the run, and Anna LeTourneau had two aces.
 
Bullard finished the first set with six kills, followed by Caitlin Cantrell with four. Ouachita held the Lady Eagles to only eight kills and forced four attack errors, as Williams Baptist finished with an attack percentage of .133.
 
The second set featured seven lead changes until the Tigers ended the set on a 6-2 run to defeat the Lady Eagles again, 25-22. The Tigers posted an attack percentage of only .162 in the set but four aces allowed Ouachita took take a 2-0 lead.
 
The Lady Eagles opened the final set with a 5-0 run and maintained their lead until Ouachita finally took over when an ace by Jayme Shell put the Tigers ahead 17-16. Ouachita eventually took the set and the match with a 25-23 win. Bullard and Stephanie Pollnow had five kills each in the third set, and Ouachita posted a .243 attack percentage.
 
The Tigers (10-6) outscored the Lady Eagles in kills, assists and digs, and Ouachita recorded a season-high 11 aces, with four coming from LeTourneau. Bullard's 14 kills tied a season-high, and Cantrell had a season-high 10 kills.
 
Ouachita will return to conference play on Friday, when the Tigers host East Central University. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
