Ouachita women's soccer wins in Bethany

BETHANY, Okla. – With goals from Morgan Allen and Haley Hatcher, the Ouachita Tigers defeated the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm 2-1 on Thursday. Ouachita moves to 5-2 in the Great American Conference with the win.

The Tigers (6-6, 5-2 GAC) took more than twice as many shots on goal as the Crimson Storm in the match, with four each coming from Allen and Hatcher. Ouachita dominated the first half, taking 10 shots while holding Southern Nazarene (5-8, 2-5 GAC) to only four.

Allen did not start the match but was substituted into the game in the 18th minute. Just over 20 minutes later, Allen gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead on a goal assisted by Sarah Luttrell. The score was Allen's first of the season, and Luttrell picked up her first assist.

One minute and seven seconds into the second half, Hatcher put Ouachita ahead 2-0 with her ninth goal of the season and the 45th goal of her career as a Tiger. Natalia Arteaga recorded her first career assist on the goal. Ouachita then entered defensive mode, as Southern Nazarene attempted five shots over the next 20 minutes but could not capitalize.

The Crimson Storm finally found the back of the net in the 72nd minute to pull within one. The Tigers held Southern Nazarene scoreless for the rest of the match, however, with Lauren Llanes securing a save in the final minute of play.

Nine different Tigers took a shot in the match, including shots on goal from Allen, Hatcher, Bryson Rial, Kasey Smith and Miranda Hudleston. Ouachita ended with 17 shots and 11 shots on goal.

Llanes spent all 90 minutes at keeper, recorded four saves. Hatcher spent all 90 minutes on the field, as well, along with Tessa Woodcock and Sammie Mack.

The Tigers continue their road trip to Shawnee, Okla. to take on Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday, Oct. 17. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
