SEARCY, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers lost their second consecutive Great American Conference match on Tuesday, as the Harding Bisons defeated the Tigers 3-1.
Harding (7-2-2, 4-0-1 GAC) struck first in the sixth minute, when Carley Stevens scored her sixth goal of the season. The Tigers then took three shots over the next 25 minutes, before Bryson Rial tied the game in the 31st minute.
The goal came on a pass from Morgan Allen, before Rial put the ball in the back of the net from just inside the 18-yard box. The goal was Rial's second of the year and Allen picked up her second assist. The Bisons responded quickly, however, with a goal in the 39th minute to take the lead again.
In the second half, Harding extended its lead to 3-1 when Bethany Sutherland scored her GAC-leading 10th goal of the season. The Tigers were then unable to complete a comeback, and the Bisons maintained their undefeated record in conference.
Harding took 22 shots in the match, but were held to only seven on goal. The Tigers took 10 shots, including four from Haley Hatcher. Rial added two shots, including Ouachita's lone goal. Lauren Llanes recorded four saves while spending all 90 minutes at keeper for the Tigers.
The Tigers (4-6, 3-2 GAC) will be at home for their next match, as Ouachita hosts East Central University on Saturday, Oct. 10. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
