RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – On the final day of the 2015 volleyball regular season, the Ouachita Tigers fell 3-0 to the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns. Arkansas Tech defeated the Tigers 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 and claimed the number-one seed in the Great American Conference Tournament.
Ouachita (15-11, 8-8 GAC) was limited to a .073 attack percentage for the match, the lowest hitting percentage by the Tigers this season. The Tigers finished with 28 kills and 20 attack errors, while the Suns had 45 kills and only 15 attack errors.
Stephanie Pollnow led the Tigers with eight kills in the three-set match, followed by
Abby Pickett and
Kori Bullard with six each.
Stormi Leonard finished with 22 assists and nine digs, while
Jayme Shell led Ouachita with 10 digs.
The Tigers finished the season ranked seventh in the GAC. Ouachita is ranked second in the conference in hitting percentage and kills per set, and the Tigers are third in blocks per set and assists per set. Pickett finished the season leading the GAC with 3.93 kills per set. Leonard also led the conference with 10.86 assists per set.
Ouachita will be the eighth seed in the GAC Tournament and will take on Southern Nazarene in the first round. Southern Nazarene defeated the Tigers earlier this season, 3-0. The tournament begins on Thursday, Nov. 19.
