ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Behind 20 points from Breanna Harris, and a go-ahead layup with eight seconds remaining by Katherine West, the Ouachita Lady Tigers defeated the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions 66-64 on Tuesday. The win is Ouachita's first of the season.

The Lady Tigers (1-4) posted a 38.7 percent field-goal percentage in the victory while holding the Lions to only 31.9 percent. Ouachita was out-rebounded by Texas A&M-Commerce (2-3) 39-29, but the Lady Tigers had five more points off turnovers and four more points in the paint.

Katie Kapler gave the Lady Tigers the first lead of the contest with a layup, sparking a 14-5 lead to start the first quarter. Ouachita had a 12-4 run later in the quarter, led by five points from Halley Hill. After a free-throw from the Lions with one second to go, the Lady Tigers entered the second quarter with a 26-12.

Ouachita maintained a lead of at least nine throughout the second quarter and gained its largest lead of 16 twice. Bria Caldwell put the Lady Tigers ahead 43-32 with a layup with 1:41 until halftime, but A&M-Commerce responded with a layup on the next possession and the half came to a close with Ouachita leading 43-34.

The Lady Tigers recorded a 44.1 percent field-goal percentage in the half, with Kapler scoring a game-high 14 points. Harris added 11 points and four rebounds.

In the third quarter, Ouachita struggled on offense, posting only six points in the period. Texas A&M-Commerce (2-3) recorded 15 points in the quarter, including an 11-0 run to tie the game 49-49 heading into the final period.

The Lions claimed only their second lead of the game with a free-throw to start the fourth quarter, and the final 10 minutes featured 10 lead changes. After a three-pointer from Shomari Harris with 3:19 to play, Harris immediately responded for the Lady Tigers with a three of her own to give Ouachita a 64-62 lead. The Lions tied the game at 64 on a layup, and after two minutes of scoreless play, the Lady Tigers called timeout to draw up the final possession.

With less than 15 seconds remaining, Caldwell found West, who beat her defender and scored the go-ahead basket with nine seconds left. The Lady Tigers then stopped Khala Riley's tying layup and Harris secured the rebound to secure the 66-64 win.

Harris scored a game-high nine points in the second half, giving her 20 for the game. She also tied for a team-high nine rebounds.
