ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Lady Tigers fell to 3-9 in Great American Conference play on Thursday, losing 95-76 to the Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison.
Breanna Harris scored her 1,000 career point at Ouachita in the loss.
Ouachita (6-12, 3-9 GAC) spent just four minutes of the game with the lead, all coming in the first quarter. Oklahoma Baptist (8-10, 6-6 GAC) stole the lead, however, with a 12-0 run, and the Lady Bison led 21-15 after one period.
The Lady Bison built on their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Ouachita 27-12 to lead 48-27 at halftime. Oklahoma Baptist converted on 53.6 percent of shots from the floor in the half, including 7-11 from three-point range. Ouachita was just 8-35 from the floor, with Harris scoring a team-high nine points.
Late in the third quarter, a mid-range jumper by Harris sparked a 12-2 run by the Lady Tigers that cut the deficit to 70-56. Oklahoma Baptist immediately responded, however, with a 16-2 run that lasted from the final minute of the third quarter to eight minutes left in the fourth. The run gave the Lady Bison a 24-point lead, and Oklahoma Baptist claimed its largest lead of 27 with 3:31 remaining in the contest.
Ouachita was much better from the floor in the second half, netting 41.2 percent of shots. The Lady Tigers were also 16-17 from the free-throw line. The Lady Bison continued their hot shooting, however, knocking down 50 percent of their three-point attempts.
Kiara Moore led all scorers with 24 points for Oklahoma Baptist, with Harris following with 22 points for Ouachita to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.
Katie Kapler added 17 points for the Lady Tigers, and
Kori Bullard added nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
The Lady Tigers will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 30, as Ouachita hosts Southern Nazarene University. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Bill Vining Arena.
