Lady Tigers defeat Blue Mountain College 81-65

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers (4-5) scored 31 points of of turnovers to earn an 81-65 win over Blue Mountain College (2-5) on Friday afternoon in Bill Vining Arena. A crowd of 638 Lady Tiger fans watched four players finish in double figures in scoring while the defense forced 22 Lady Topper turnovers. Ouachita's bench scored 41 points in the win.  

Chasidee Owens scored a game-high 13 points in the first half after going 6-7 from the floor and 1-1 beyond the arc. The Lady Tigers shot 51 percent in the first two quarters and forced 12 turnovers on defense. Teammate Alivia Huell also added 10 in the Lady Tigers' first half. The Lady Toppers briefly held a 3-2 lead to start the game, but a three from Owens put Ouachita up for good. Ouachita led by 10 at the end of the first quarter. Blue Mountain got within two in the second quarter, but Ouachita closed out the first half with an 8-point lead on a layup by Owens as time expired.

Madison Brittain had 13 second-half points after going a perfect 5-5 from the floor, including three treys. Shakyla Begnaud scored 10 in the second half with most of the damage coming from the free-throw line. She went 6-7 from the charity stripe in the second half anD 7-9 for the game. Ouachita hit 46 percent of its second-half three-point attempts with Brittain, Katie Kapler and Taylor Bowles all combining for a perfect 6-6 from beyond the three-point line. Blue Mountain cute the lead to single digits in the fourth quarter but the Lady Tigers finished with an 11-4 run  in the final five minutes to seal the victory by a final of 81-65.

The Lady Tigers will return to action at Bill Vining Arena on Dec. 27 versus Central Baptist College. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
