ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Lady Tigers came up short in the second Battle of the Ravine of the 2015-16 season on Monday, falling to the Henderson State Reddies, 79-68.
Kori Bullard led all scorers with 19 points in the game, while grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds.
Ouachita (8-16, 5-13 GAC) took the first lead of the game on a layup by
Katie Kapler, but Henderson (11-13, 10-8 GAC) eventually took an 8-6 lead with 6:36 to play in the first quarter. The Reddies maintained their lead for the rest of the contest, never allowing the Lady Tigers to gain an advantage.
Despite never taking back the lead, Ouachita did not allow the Reddies to go ahead by double digits until a three-pointer put Henderson ahead 55-45 with 2:53 left in the third quarter. The Lady Tigers pulled within one possession of tying the game on eight separate occasions, but a field-goal percentage of 53.1 percent for Henderson allowed the Reddies to keep their lead.
Ouachita was held to just 38.6 percent from the field, including just 4-18 from three-point range. The Lady Tigers did convert on 20-25 free-throws, however. Behind 12 offensive rebounds, Ouachita recorded 15 second-chance points, but Henderson's hot shooting and 24 points from the bench kept the Lady Tigers from coming back.
Bullard earned her second double-double of the season in the loss, while Kapler followed with 15 points.
Breanna Harris scored 13 points and grabbed six boards, and
Katherine West added nine points and a team-high three assists.
The Lady Tigers will host the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Thursday, Feb. 18, in Bill Vining Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
