Tigers fall to Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Ouachita Tigers baseball team dropped the third ad final game of the series versus Oklahoma Baptist earlier today by a final of 10-2. The loss drops the Tigers to 12-28 overall and 8-19 in GAC play. 

After splitting the series-opening doubleheader, the Tigers found themselves down early. Oklahoma Baptist jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Bison added four more runs to their lead and Ouachita entered the seventh inning trailing 7-0. Ouachita was held to three hits in the first six innings of play. 

Justin Weigle led of the seventh with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Will Wallace. Austin White loaded the bases with a single to right to give the Tigers their first real scoring threat of the day. Preston Speers came to the plate with the bases loaded but with two outs. He delivered with a double down the left field line, scoring Weigle and Wallace. Ouachita would end the inning trailing 7-2. 

Oklahoma Baptist added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and would finish off the Tigers in the top of the ninth to get the 10-2 win. 

Will Wallace finished the day going 2-4 with a run scored. Speers' double earned him two RBI, giving him 18 on the year. 

The Tigers play at doubleheader at Delta State on Tuesday, April 19 before returning home to host Southern Nazarene for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 22. The 2016 Ouachita Baseball seniors will be honored in a special ceremony on Saturday, April 23.
