Tigers improve to 9-2 with wins on Saturday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers volleyball team traveled to Searcy, Ark. on Saturday for two matches at the Harding Volleyball Quad-Match. The Tigers defeated Lyon College 3-0 and Missouri Southern State 3-1 to improve to 9-2 on the year. The win over Missouri Southern State was the Tigers fourth-straight win and the second over MSSU in eight days. 

The Tigers defeated Lyon College in straight sets in match one, 25-18, 25-14, 25-18. The Tigers had 10 service aces in the match, led by Stormi Leonard's four. Jayme Shell led the Ouachita attack with 8 kills and a .412 attack percentage. Adrianna Nolly hit .417 and added six kills. As a team the Tigers hit .239 percent with 30 kills on 88 attacks. Leonard led the Tigers with 25 assists. Ashley Wake finished the match with a team-high 17 digs.

Freshman Tabatha Huckabee and Katie Camp led the Tigers with 12 kills in their 3-1 win over Missouri Southern State (19-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17). Playing their second-consecutive match of the day, the Tigers bounced bak from a one-set deficit to take next three. Camp led all players with a .500 attack percentage, scoring 12 kills on 20 attacks and committing only two errors.Leonard finished with a match-high 45 assists to go along with 10 digs. Wake, one of four Tigers with double digits in digs, had a team-high 17.

The Tigers return home to take on Southern Arkansas University on Sept. 20 at 6:00 p.m.
