ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The defending 2015 Great American Conference men's soccer champion Ouachita Tigers opened 2016 with a decisive 2-0 road win over Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. Ouachita scored both goals in the first half of play.
Two-time all-region forward
Tinashe Chigede scored the Tigers first goal of the year on a penalty kick at the 41:49 mark of the first half. Ouachita struck again in less than a minute and a half for goal number two.
Noa Cuellar scored at the 43:17 mark off the assist by
Joey Zerbo.
Nelson Pacheco recorded five saves in the game, including three in the second half. The Tigers defense held off the late attack by Southwest Baptist, who got off eight second-half shots.
The 1-0 Tigers will face William Jewel College in Liberty, Mo. on Sunday, September 4. The match is set to start at 1:30 p.m.
