Lady Tigers win streak snapped at Tech

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Lady Tigers saw their four-game win streak come to an end Thursday night in Russellville versus Arkansas Tech. The Golden Suns defeated Ouachita by a final score of 89-66. Alivia Huell led the Tigers with 13 points while Madison Brittain finished with 12 and Taylor Bowles added 11.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, but three consecutive three-pointers by the Golden Suns'  Anissa Pounds, put Tech up 19-15 with three minutes remaining in the quarter. Morgan Miller sank a pair of free throws at the end of the quarter to bring the Lady Tigers within three, 23-20. The Lady Tigers were outscored 23-13 in the second quarter. Despite shooting well in the first two, 14 first-half turnovers limited the Lady Tigers scoring opportunities. They trailed by 13 at the half, 46-33.

Ouachita's Kori Bullard opened scoring for the Lady Tigers in the third quarter with a three. After a layup by Bria Caldwell, Tech went on a 14-0 run to extend their lead to 29. Ouachita responded with an 11-0 run to cut the Tech lead to 18. Trailing 72-49 to start the fourth quarter, Ouachita's Taylor Bowles scored 11 of Ouachita's 17 points. She went 4-6 from the floor and sank both free throw attempts.

The Lady Tigers now stand at 7-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play. They return to Bill Vining Arena this Saturday to host Harding. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
