BETHANY, Okla. – The Ouachita Baptist men's soccer team (4-6, 2-2 GAC) shutout Southern Nazarene (0-12-1, 0-4 GAC) 5-0 Thursday night. It's the second time this season the Tigers defeated the Crimson Storm. Ouachita picked up a 4-1 win at home against Southern Nazarene on Sept. 23.
Five different Tigers scored in the lopsided conference win.
Tinashe Chigede quickly hit in Ouachita's winning goal just 20 seconds into the match. The goal is Chigede's team-leading eighth of the season.
Marcellus Hill and
Noa Cuellar both found their first goals of the season in the Tiger's 10
th match. Hill's goal, during the 13
th minute, put the Tigers ahead 2-0 while Cuellar's goal, during the 64
th minute, gave Ouachita a 5-0 advantage.
Both
Michiru Forbess and
Blaine Hickman tallied their second goals of the year, helping the Tigers sweep the season series against the Crimson Storm. Forbess' goal gave Ouachita a 3-0 lead just 24 minutes into the contest and Hickman's score helped keep the momentum on Ouachita's side to open the second half of play.
As a team, the Tigers struck 17 shots with nine on goal while Southern Nazarene finished with 13 total shots, placing five on goal. Ouachita keeper
Edward Pacheco made all five saves to keep the Crimson Storm off the scoreboard, giving the Tiger's its third shutout this season.
Ouachita will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 14 as the team travels to Shawnee, Oklahoma to face Oklahoma Baptist at 3 p.m.
