ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Baptist men's and women's swim teams competed Friday night at Henderson State. The men's team fell 141-76 against the Reddies while the women's team dropped its match 129-80.
Seth Fox and
Artemii Orekhov highlighted the competition for the men's team. Fox took first in the one-meter diving, taking the event with a score of 131. Orekhov, meanwhile, placed first in both the 100-yard butterfly and breaststroke. The junior won the butterfly with a time of 52.63 seconds and the breaststroke in 59.09 seconds.
In the women's competition,
Camilla Howarth gave the Tigers two first-place finishes, taking the 1000-yard and 500-yard freestyle races. Howarth easily took the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:16, 30-plus seconds ahead of the second place finisher. In the 500-yard freestyle, the freshman took first in dramatic fashion, defeating Reddie swimmer Jordan Adkins by .12 seconds with a time of 5:24.96.
Nasaya Ulianova also came away a first-place finish for Ouachita. Ulianova won the 400-yard individual medley with a 4:55 finish. Meanwhile,
Rylee Garrett nearly took first in the 100-yard backstroke. The freshman finished in a time of 1:00.59, .25 seconds behind first place.
The men's swim team will be back in action on Nov. 10 as it hosts Delta State at 10 a.m. in Waggoner Pool. The women's team won't be back in action until Nov. 17 when both the men and women swimmers compete at the Miner Invitational in Rolla, Missouri.
