Tigers win big in doubleheader against SNU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' softball team (8-6, 2-0 GAC) defeated Southern Nazarene (2-8, 0-2 GAC) in both games of a doubleheader Friday to open its conference season.

The Tigers won the first game by a final score of 2-1 after Macy Nantz hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Tigers then won the second game by a final score of 13-1. The second game of the doubleheader was called after five innings due to a run rule which states if a team is winning by more than eight runs after the top of the fifth inning then the game is over.

Macy Nantz was the starting pitcher for the first game, but was relieved by Marissa Butler with one out remaining in the seventh inning. Butler received the win for the game after Nantz hit a walk-off double from the DH position. Kelsey O'Brien was the starting pitcher for the second game. O'Brien allowed one run and struck out six batters to earn the win.

The Tigers had a great day from the batter's box. Sarah Johnson had four hits over the two games and picked up four RBI's. Six Tigers picked up RBI's in the second game, including Macy Wilson with four RBI's and Natalie Jackson with three.

The Tigers will finish the series against the Crimson Storm with a doubleheader tomorrow, Feb. 25. Games will begin at 12 and 2 p.m.
