Tigers roll over Storm 72-63

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers' men's basketball team defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State by a final of 72-63 on Saturday in Bill Vining Arena. Lakee Westbrook scored a game high 23 points and freshman Isaiah Harper scored 18 and grabbed a game-high six rebounds. Justin McCleary scored 11 and made a game-high six assists. The Tigers improved to 10-9 this season with their second straight win. 

Both teams shot 50 percent from the floor in a first half that saw three ties and six lead changes. Ouachita made of 8-14 three-point attempts while Southeastern went 8-9 from the free throw line. Westbrook went 6-9 from the floor in the first half, with all six coming from beyond the arc. Southeastern's Anton Cook had 14 in the first half to lead the Savage Storm. After getting fouled on a three-point attempt, Cook sank all three free throws to cut the Tiger lead to two, 35-33. Westbrook hit his sixth three of the half with 20 seconds remaining to make it a 38-33 game. Cook answered with a floater in the paint at the buzzer and Ouachita went into halftime leading 38-35.

After falling behind by four early in the second half, Ouachita came back with a run and reclaimed the lead on a bucket by Isaiah Harper. Ouachita led 44-42 with just over 16 minutes to play. Ouachita never lost again, leading by as many as 11 in the final period of play. Harper had a team-high 10 points in the second half, all coming in the paint. The Tigers made 4-6 free throw attempts down the stretch and sealed the win by a final of 72-63. 

The Tigers travel to Searcy, Ark. on Thursday, Feb.9 to face Harding. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
