ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - In Batesville, Ark.,the Ouachita Tigers' baseball team defeated the Scots of Lyon College by a final score of 6-5.
Jakahari Howell knocked in three runs on two doubles and starter
Jayme Lovelace picked up his first win of the season.With the win, Ouachita improved to 8-19 and have won three of their last four.
Howell doubled to deep left center in the top of the second inning, scoring Tarrod Collier and Aaron Studard. Howell later scored on a RBI ground out by
Ryan Hammer. Up 3-0 in the top of the third, Collier drove in
Preston Speers with a single to left. Collier ended the day with two hits at the DH position. The Tigers tacked on another run in the sixth courtesy of
Justin Weigle's RBI single and again in the top of the seventh. Howell's second double of the game scored
Kord Offenbacker and gave Ouachita a 6-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.Â
That run would prove to be the game-winner. The Scots scored five runs in the bottom half the inning to pull within one of the Tigers.
Logan Huneycutt entered in relief and shut the Scots down. He finished the game, earning his fourth save of the season.Â
