ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team (12-27, 9-16 GAC) defeated Northwestern Oklahoma (11-27, 6-19 GAC) by a final score of 12-2 in eight innings of action Thursday afternoon.
The game ended early after Ouachita scored six eighth-inning runs to give them a 10-run lead and enact the run rule.
Jakahari Howell hit a triple and batted in three runs for the Tigers, while
Ty Owens and
Kyle Alexander picked up two RBI each.
John Franklin Matros (4-3) picked up the win for the Tigers and struck out six batters in six innings of action.
The Tigers didn't lead the game until the fifth inning, when they picked up four runs and took a 5-2 lead.
Jakahari Howell opened scoring in the inning with a RBI triple, and was followed up by RBIs by
Justin Weigle,
Kyle Alexander and
Austin White. Six runs in the eighth inning, including two driven in by Howell and two driven in by
Ty Owens, ended the game at 12-2 in favor of the Tigers.
Ouachita will finish the series against NWOSU with a doubleheader tomorrow. Games will begin at 12 and 3 p.m.
