Split with Reddies gets Tigers into postseason play

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers' baseball team (15-32, 12-19 GAC) won one game of a doubleheader Friday over the Henderson State Reddies (27-18, 19-12 GAC) to clinch a spot in the Great American Conference tournament. Austin White went 6-8 on the day with a double and a triple. Justin Weigle went 4-8 with three runs scored.

Ouachita won the first game of the doubleheader by a final score of 11-8 and lost the second by a score of 1-6.

The Tigers needed a late comeback to win the first game. They scored 8 of their 11 runs in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings. The late-game scoring began with a solo hole run from Kyle Alexander in the bottom of the sixth. After taking a six-run lead in the eighth inning, the Tigers withstood a three-run ninth inning from the Reddies to win the game.

John Franklin Matros started the game for the Tigers, but Abe Young entered the game in the 7th inning and was credited with the win.

The second game did not go as well for the Tigers. Their sole run came in bottom of the sixth with a solo home run from Justin Weigle. Adam Bahloul started the game for the Tigers and struck out five batters.

The Tigers will finish the series against Henderson tomorrow, April 29 with a game at 12 p.m.
