ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Tigers (10-6, 3-2 GAC) downed rival Henderson State (9-9, 2-3 GAC) Thursday night in the team's first of two Battle of the Ravine matches this season. Ouachita won the highly contested match in five sets, 17-25, 28-26, 20-25, 25-21, 15-13.
Tabatha Huckabee and
Stormi Leonard led the charge for the Tigers. Huckabee closed out the match with 24 kills on a .297 hitting percentage while Leonard tallied 53 assists and 21 digs.
Adrianna Nolly helped Ouachita to seven blocks with four of her own – two solo and two assisted – and
Kori Bullard added on three assisted blocks, 13 kills and two aces.
As a team, Ouachita finished with a .209 hitting percentage and 65 total kills while Henderson State owned 73 kills on a .216 hitting percentage. The Tigers also picked up 90 digs, 62 assists and five aces.
Ouachita is now 12-1 versus the Reddies since 2011. The Tigers will now move on to face Southern Nazarene next Thursday, Oct. 5. The road match is set to start at 6 p.m. in Bethany, Oklahoma.
