DURANT, Okla. - The Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers volleyball team is off to a perfect 4-0 start after sweeping through the competition at the Southeastern Oklahoma Tournament, held Sept. 1-2 in Durant, Oklahoma.
In the opener, the Lady Tigers captured a 3-0 win over Texas A&M-International, winning sets 25-21, 25-22, and 25-18.
Tabatha Huckabee and
Adrianna Nolly led the way offensively, as Huckabee hit .321 with 10 kills and Nolly hit .400 with 10 kills.
Nikki Clay picked up 15 digs and
Stormi Leonard turned in a double-double with 31 digs and 12 assists.
Ouachita outhit the Dustdevils .205 to .099 for the match, and had eight blocks to TAMIU's five. Nolly and
Kori Bullard were in on four blocks apiece, while Huckabee chipped in on three.
The Lady Tigers finished their opening day with a marathon 3-2 win over Dallas Baptist, winning 16-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 18-16.
Huckabee had a match-high 16 kills, while
Paige Williams added 15. Nolly turned in her second straight excellent performance, hitting .393 with 14 kills. Clay had 20 digs to lead the way, while Williams' 18 digs gave her a double-double.
Julianna Mack also added 13 digs in the winning effort. Leonard had 21 assists to lead all players.
Ouachita came away with the win despite a stellar blocking performance by Dallas Baptist, who outblocked the Lady Tigers 12-3.
The final day opened with a 3-0 sweep over Minnesota-Crookston, as Ouachita won sets by the scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-20.
Nolly and Bullard both hit double figures in kills and hit over .300, with Nolly hitting .300 with 10 kills and Bullard hitting .316 with ten. Huckabee hit .412 with nine kills as well. Leonard dished out 40 assists, while Clay added 12 digs in the win. Ouachita outhit UMC .269 to .221, going for a match-best .457 percentage in the second set.
The Lady Tigers closed tournament play with a 3-2 win over Cameron, ralling from a 2-1 deficit to win. Set scores were 25-20, 22-25, 13-25, 25-14, 15-12. Huckabee and Bullard led the way with 12 kills apiece, with Bullard hitting .345. Nolly hit .389 with nine kills. Leonard picked up 37 assists and 15 digs to lead the way, while Clay added 14 digs, Williams 11, and Mack 10.
Ouachita returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 5, hosting Lyon College in a 6 p.m. match.
