Women's Soccer goes 1-1 on Oklahoma Road Trip

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Ouachita women's soccer team went 1-1 this past week during their trip out west against Northwestern and Southwestern Oklahoma State.

The Tigers kicked off the weekend with a 3-1 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State. With the victory, Ouachita took the season series against the Rangers and moved into a tie for third place in the Great American Conference standings.

Shannon Stribling (Rogers, Ark.), Ashlyn Heckman (Frisco, Texas) and Jaymee Dotson (Princeton, Texas) all scored goals in the first half for the Tigers and they each picked up an assist in the contest. The victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State gave the Tigers their first winning streak of the season.

The winning streak was short lived however as Ouachita played Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers held a potent Bulldog offense to just a single goal in the first half of play. In their previous matchup two weeks ago, the Bulldogs scored three goals in the opening half of play.

In the second half of Saturday's game Southwestern Oklahoma Baptist scored a pair of goals in the opening ten minutes of action to extend their lead to 3-0. In the 57th minute of action, Heckman found Natalia Arteaga (Chatsworth, Calif.) for the Tigers first goal of the afternoon. A few moments later the Bulldogs went back up by three.

Ouachita returns home this week with two conference matches to end the regular season. Harding comes to town on Tuesday evening and senior day will be next Saturday morning against East Central University.
