ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita men's soccer team dropped all three of their matches this week by a combined three goals, all of the game winning goals came in either the second half or overtime this week.
In Monday night's matchup, Ouachita traveled to Delta State and fell 3-2 to the Statesmen.
Blain Hickman opened the game up with a penalty kick goal in the 10
th minute of the game. Delta State tied the match in the 34
th minute with a penalty kick of their own. Bruno Osorio collected his second goal of the night two minutes into the second half. Delta State held a 3-1 lead after the 52
nd minute of playing time.
Ryan Wilson added a goal late to pull the Tigers within a goal.
On Friday night, the Tigers were looking to redeem themselves against Northeastern State University. Earlier in the season, Ouachita fell 8-1 to the Riverhawks. The Tigers appeared to be locked in as they battled both the Riverhawks and the weather on a wet night. Hickman once again opened the game up with a goal in the 12
th minute of action. Two minutes later and the Tigers held a 2-0 lead after a
Jared Cox goal. The Riverhawks scored goals in the 56
th and 71
st minute to tie the game up before legislation. After a scoreless overtime period the game appeared to be heading towards a tie as the rain came crashing down on the field. Northeastern State forward Trevor Reed scored the game winning goal two minutes into the second overtime period.
The Tigers went into Sunday's game hoping to break the three game losing skid. Ouachita faced off against the Union Bulldogs on Senior Day. The game remained scoreless going into the second half of play. In the 58
th minute of action, Felipe Firmino put Union on the board first; it was the first time all week the Tigers had not scored the opening goal of the game. Three minutes later and Tiger forward
Joey Zerbo scored the equalizer in the 61
st minute of action. In the 69
th minute of action, James Jackson gave the Bulldogs the lead.
