Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Remain Even in Conference Play

ADA, Okla. – The Ouachita women's soccer team went 1-1 this past week against Great American Conference foes Harding and East Central.

Ashlyn Heckman (Frisco, Texas) and Bryson Thomas (Hurst, Texas) once again paced the Tigers on offense with each one scoring a goal this past week.

Goalkeeper Erin Webster (Alvin, Texas) and the defensive back line had a shaky start at the beginning of the week giving up six goals to Harding, but they turned it around and pitched a shutout against East Central University. Webster finished the week with 23 saves.

Game One: Ouachita 1, Harding 6
In game one of the week, the Ouachita defense was bombarded with a bevy of shots from the Harding offense. The Bison accumulated 30 shots and 18 shots on goal. To Webster's defense, she stepped up repeatedly and ended the night 12 saves in the match.

The Tigers found themselves down 4-0 in the 71st minute of the game. Heckman was fouled in the box and earned a penalty kick for Ouachita. Heckman executed the penalty kick to perfection and cut the Bison's lead to three. Amelia Grizzell added a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes of play to give Harding the victory.

Game Two: Ouachita 1, East Central 0
Ouachita came out hot on Thursday afternoon, shooting the ball 11 times in the opening half. Natalie Arteaga (Chatsworth, Calif.) sent a through ball past a pair of East Central defenders and Thomas did the rest.

Ouachita's defense was up to the challenge in the second half as they denied East Central opportunity after opportunity. Although Ouachita was out shot in the second half 13-8 they still finished the game outshooting East Central 19-17. The Ouachita defense asserted their physical prowess over East Central with six fouls in the contest.

Webster came up with eight saves in the second half and finished with a game high 11 saves. It was the second consecutive game that Webster had achieved more saves than her counterpoint.

Ouachita will have a week off before they battle Oklahoma Baptist next Thursday afternoon at Kluck field. The Tigers will look to avenge a 2-1 loss to Oklahoma Baptist from earlier in the season.
