Ouachita Extends Win Streak to Six

ADA, Okla. – The Ouachita volleyball team took care of business on Saturday afternoon defeating the winless East Central University Tigers in straight sets 25-23, 25-22 and 25-23.

Ouachita (17-6, 6-3 GAC) hit uncharacteristically low as a team on Saturday, only hitting a combined .189 as a team. Ouachita's defense held strong and forced East Central (0-21, 0-9 GAC) to commit 22 errors in the match.

Katie Camp (Plano, Texas) led the Tigers with 17 kills in the contest, junior outside hitter Tabatha Huckabee (North Richland Hills, Texas) was the only other Ouachita player to record double digit kills in the contest. Middle blocker Adrianna Nolly (Denton, Texas) finished with eight kills and a team high six blocks.

Stormi Leonard (Decatur, Texas) recorded her eighth double double of the season with 38 assists and 13 digs. Libero Julianna Mack (Little Rock, Ark.) recorded a team high 16 digs and Shannon Hogan (Plano, Texas) added an additional 11 digs in the match.

Ouachita and East Central fought each other for each point. Neither team was able to gain separation from each other until late in the set. East Central held a 23-22 advantage and appeared to have momentum late in the opening set. Ouachita then finished the opening set on a 3-0 run to take the first set 25-22.

East Central came out hot in the second set, jumping out to a 6-2 advantage over Ouachita. Ouachita head coach Allison Frizzel-Kizer called timeout to settle her group down. Ouachita responded with a 4-0 run to tie up the game at six. Down 14-11, Ouachita went on a 10-2 run to take a commanding lead in the set. Ouachita took the second set 25-22.

The third and final set remained close and competitive throughout. Tied at 17 the Ouachita offense showed a little spark and went on a 3-0 run to take a small lead. Ouachita just needed that little spark as they completed the straight set sweep 25-23.

Ouachita will be back at home on Friday night to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State. For all the latest news on the Ouachita volleyball team head over to obutigers.com or follow, the official social media accounts of Ouachita athletics.
