ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita men's basketball team started their season off on the right foot with a 90-70 victory over Philander Smith in an exhibition game on Thursday evening.
Ouachita and Philander Smith played a competitive first half with the Tigers only leading by three points at the half time break. A 47-point outburst in the second half helped the Tigers pull away from Philander Smith for the exhibition victory.
Four Tigers finished the game in double-digit points, freshman
Jacob Street (Nacogdoches, Texas) led the team in points with 15 on the night. Senior guard
Mahlon Martin (Little Rock, Ark.) scored 14 second half points to finish second on the team.
Eric Brown (Greenville, Miss.) contributed 13 points in the contest, while
Trey Harris (Little Rock, Ark.) added 11 to the mix.
The men's basketball team is currently on the road as they prepare for an exhibition matchup against Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers knockdown Arkansas-Little Rock last season in their Division I matchup as Ouachita looks to duplicate that success this season. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
