OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – After a 30-13 loss to Oklahoma City University on Saturday night, the Ouachita Tigers wrestling team responded with a positive showing at the Open Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

"We were very pleased with the effort this afternoon after not wrestling well on Saturday night." Ouachita Baptist wrestling coach Kevin Crutchmer said, "We know this is a process, and we will be going back to work to fix areas on Monday."

On Saturday night, only a trio of wrestlers were able to pick up victories over their opponents. Logan Sloss (Russellville, Ark.) pinned Logan Chappell in 36 seconds to pick up the win in the 133-pound division. All-American Tyler Mann (Little Rock, Ark.) moved down a weight class this season and picked up a decision victory over Jon McGowan in the 157-pound division. Augustus Boyd (Houston, Texas) wrestled at the 197-weight division and received a major decision victory over Ryan Bracken.

On Sunday afternoon, the Tigers found a little more success in the open tournament in Oklahoma City. Mann and Boyd each placed third in their respective weight division. Tanner Hawkins (Weatherford, Okla.) placed third in the 285 division and fellow heavyweight Austin Weldon (Pinson, Ala.) came in fourth place in the 285-weight division.

The Ouachita wrestling team will have a few days off before they travel east of the Mississippi. The Tigers will face Emanuel College in the Peach State on Thursday night and two days later, Ouachita will battle Queens in the Tar Heel State.
