Henderson State End Lady Tigers Season

Box Score BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – For the third time this season the Ouachita Lady Tigers basketball team lost to Henderson State, this time it was a 66-50 loss in the Great American Conference quarterfinals.

Ouachita (14-15) finished the game shooting just 31 percent from the field and only made two three-pointers in the game. Meanwhile, Henderson State (21-8) completed around 43 percent of their shots for the game.

The game was a back-and-forth affair between the two squads in the opening quarter of play. The two squads traded baskets as the Reddies led 15-14 going into the second quarter of play.

Henderson State went on a 9-0 run to begin the second quarter of play as they begin to put the game out of reach. The Lady Tigers responded a multitude of times within the quarter but ultimately trailed 30-22 going into halftime.

Shakyla Begnaud scored the opening two buckets of the second half and pulled the Lady Tigers within four points of Henderson State. The Reddies responded with an 8-0 run and led 38-28 with 6:53 to go in the quarter.

At the 4:53 mark of the quarter, Begnaud knocked down a jumper in the paint and the Lady Tigers appeared to be on the verge of tying the game up only down by 3 points. Henderson State ended the quarter on a 15-3 run to take a commanding lead into the fourth quarter.

Ouachita tried to keep it close in the last quarter of play but they were never able to get the game under double digits.

???????Begnaud finished the game with 10 points and Alivia Huell had a team high 15 points in the loss. Haleigh Henson scored 22 points for the Reddies and Pink Jones contributed 14 points to Henderson State.
