ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tigers use a stellar ground attack to take down the Oklahoma Baptist Bison with a final of 42-12 at Cliff Harris Stadium.
Brockton Brown led the rushing attack with 10 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
Shun'cee Thomas followed right behind brown with 17 carries for 80 yards and two touchdowns; his longest of the day being a 25 yards scamper in the first half.
TJ Cole was the third head of the rushing monster as he added 80 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns himself.
In total the Tigers accumulated 341 yards on 52 attempts as
Brayden Brazeal,
Grant Allen and
Dawson Dabbs accounted for 102 of the Ouachita rushing yards.
Brazeal was perfect on the day through the air completing all seven of his passes for 74 yards.
Allie Freeman caught five passes on the day for 72 yards including reeling in a 48 yard bomb by Brazeal. Freshman
Keemontrae McKnight brought in the other two of Brazeal's passes for Ouachita.
The Tigers defense swarmed the Bison today led by
Oshae Pruitt with eight total tackles and two quarterback hurries.
Keandre Evans put in seven tackles all of which were solo tackles. He also pressured the Bison wide receivers forcing three pass breakups.
Austin Guymon and Lafoy Smith both finished with six tackles as
Dameyun McDonald had the only sack for the Tigers on the day.
Ouachita forced two turnovers in the game as
Hayden Lassiter brought in an interception for his third straight game. Lassiter's interception came in the end zone thwarting a Bison scoring opportunity.
Zach Curry forced a fumble in the second half and recovered it setting up a Tiger touchdown.
Starting the game on fire,
Shun'cee Thomas carried the rock six times scoring for the Tigers on a 25 yard rush. After the defense forced a turnover on downs, Ouachita regained possession at their own 34 yard line. In six plays the Tigers went up 14-0 on a
TJ Cole 40 yard touchdown scamper with 3:04 left in the first quarter.
The Bison punted the ball which was received by
Hayden Lassiter who returned it to the Bison 38. After the quarter change,
Brockton Brown ran the ball into the end zone on a 29 yard rush. Lassiter's interception led to a second
Brockton Brown's this one from three yards out. The Bison drove the ball into the Tigers red zone before the half but were stopped on the four yard line by
Dameyun McDonald as time expired.
After Curry caused the Bison fumble on the first drive of the second half, Thomas surged into the end zone for his second touchdown from one yard out giving the Tigers a 35-0 lead. The Bison finally broke into the scoring column with a seven yard rush on their second drive of the third quarter. The last score of the day for the Tigers came on a 13 play 65 yard drive which ended with a
TJ Cole 10 yard touchdown run. Oklahoma Baptist tacked on one more in the game, but the Tigers took the victory 42-14.
