Box Score Shawnee, Okla. – Tigers comeback from trailing at halftime to score the last three goals of the game and defeat Oklahoma Baptist is overtime 4-3.
Ouachita's four goals came from two upperclassmen in
Jaymee Dotson and
Ashlyn Heckman. In the first half the Tigers only put in one goal as Heckman fired in a shot scoring in the high center portion of the net.
After succumbing a penalty kick and a 3-1 lead to the home team, the Tigers clawed their way back into the game. At the 69 minute mark, less than a minute after the penalty kick goal by OKBU,
Jaymee Dotson rocketed a shot past the keeper cutting the lead to one. Nine minutes later
Ashlyn Heckman put in her second goal of the day as she lasered in a shot in the low right portion of the goal.
The Tigers and Bison ended the regular time tied at three pushing the game into a sudden death overtime period. Six minutes into the period
Jaymee Dotson received a pass from
Hanna Thompson. Dotson then sent it passed the goalie sealing the win for the Tigers and giving them three straight conference victories.
Pressuring the Bison the entire game, the Tigers put in 20 shots as 11 of them were on goal. Besides Dotson and Heckman,
Madison Humbard,
Gracie Samuel and
Hanna Thompson all put in two or more shots on the day.
Throughout the game the Tigers were only credited with one penalty. However, they did see a yellow card as the Bison recorded 10 penalties on the day.
Erin Webster played all 100 minutes of the match and put in a great outing for the Tigers. Webster saw 30 shots from the opposing team with 14 being on goal. Out of the 14 shots on goal the Tiger goalie saved 11 for the winning team.
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, Oct. 31 at Kluck Field against Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m. as the Tigers look to capture their fourth consecutive GAC win and seventh out of their last eight game.
