Low Shows Out in Battle of the Ravine

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tigers fight hard in the last Battle of the Ravine of the 2019 season at Sturgis Physical Education Center falling in the end 3-0 to the rivals across the street.

Emily Low highlighted the Tigers attack ending the game with 10 kills and seven blocks. She led Ouachita's attack scoring 14.5 points on the night.

The Tigers put in work on the defensive end accumulating 63 digs. 45 of those digs came from three players. Katie Camp (16), Lexie Castillow (15) and Shannon Hogan (14) flew around the court making highlight reel dives and slides giving Ouachita offensive possessions.

From the get-go the game was slanted the Reddies way. The Tigers did not lay down though as in the first set they used a 6-1 run led by Low who had three kills in the frame. However, Henderson State held the Tigers to just five more points, and the opposing team took set one 25-18.

Ouachita showed their fight in the second set bouncing back to take a 8-5 lead capped off by a kill by Rileigh Fielder. The Tigers fell behind later in the set going down 18-13 before allowing the foes to end the set on an 7-0 run. The run allowed the Reddies to take a 15-14 set win.

In the third set, the Tigers received a spark from freshman Middle Karli Ferguson who connected on four kills bringing Ouachita in striking distance at 17-15. To the chagrin of the good guys, Henderson State closed out the match 25-19 capturing the 3-0 match victory.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 5 as they travel to Searcy, Ark. to face off against Harding University at 6:00 PM.
