ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tigers take the fight to the Dallas Baptist Patriots but suffer a 70-56 point defeat.
Kendarious Smith led the Tigers in scoring putting 13 points; however, he played an all-around great game adding in eight rebounds and three steals.
Trey Harris and
Morris Talbert were right behind smith with eight points apiece.
Larenz Nero was everywhere on the floor for the Tigers putting in six points, six rebounds and six assists.
Ouachita came out of the gates firing as they would score the first four points. The Tigers extended their lead to eight on a highlight reel alley-oop from Nero to freshman
Xavier Hall. However, a three pointer then a sequence that included a flagrant foul saw the Patriots go on a two minute 9-0 run regaining the lead. Ouachita did not let up as they regained a five point lead on a
Jacob Street jumper with 3:30 left in the half. After exchanging blows the last two minutes, Ouachita trailed 30-29 at the half.
The second half started well for the Tigers as they regained the lead and went up by four on a
Trey Harris three pointer. The teams then tied at 42 all and stayed that way for four minutes until DBU scored at the 10:43 mark. Ouachita regained the lead at 48-47 on free throws by Smith, but it would be the last time they had the advantage.
The Tigers will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 21 as they travel to Russellville, Ark. to face off against their first Great American Conference foe, Arkansas Tech. The game will start at 7:30 p.m.
