ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Lady Tigers use an all-around team performance to defeat Oklahoma Baptist Bison by double digits, 70-59.
Junior
Madison Brittain led the way as she amassed 16 points on 4-6 from the three points line. Sophomore
Eden Crow and Senior
Alivia Huell added 13 points each.
Madison Raney also scored 10 points including her going a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
The Tigers started their Pink Out game slowly as they fell behind 8-2; however,
Eden Crow would knock down a jumper to add to the Tiger's points. The Lady Tigers would go down by 9 before going on an 8-0 run of their own. On that run
Madison Brittain would knock down her first three of the night and
Jakyya Clay would come off the bench and give the Bison's post all they could handle defensively. At the end of the first Ouachita would face a 10 point deficit.
In the second the Lady Tigers would start their come back bid. After exchanging buckets
Madison Brittain would knock down a three pointer with 7:20 left in the quarter to cut the lead to single digits. Ouachita would look at their largest deficit of the game at 13 with 4:30 left in the half. They then began to heat up from the field as would end the half on a 10-1 run.
Madison Brittain knocked down a corner three with 9 seconds left in the half to put the game at 35-31 going into the break.
Coach
Garry Crowder made great adjustments at the half and the Lady Tigers came out with the win in sight. The Trio of
Alivia Huell,
Madison Brittain and
Maija Gertsone would knock down three consecutive three pointers to give the Tigers a 40-37 lead with seven minutes left in the quarter. Ouachita would end up outscoring the Bison 26-13 in the quarter as the lead was increased to nine on a highlight reel three pointer from
Rylee Lavender.
The Tigers finished business in the fourth as they would only allow Oklahoma Baptist to score eleven points in the quarter. A layup by
Madison Brittain with 5:30 left in the game would give the Lady Tigers their biggest lead at 14 with a score of 64-50. The lone senior,
Alivia Huell, took over the game as she made a bucket with one minute left to close the deal for the Lady Tigers.
