Upperclassmen Show out in Crossover Classic

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Ouachtia Tigers Softball faced off against Missouri Sothern State and Missouri Western State in the DII Crossover Classic and fell in both games.

The Tigers used big contributions from upper classmen to fight hard against the two foes.

The first matchup of the day was against Missouri Southern State at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Senior Marissa Butler drew the start for the Tigers, and she was dominant. She threw the complete six innings of the game striking out eight batters and only allowing two runs.

In the game the Tigers took an early 1-0 lead on junior Kirsten Shaw's single scoring Madison Miller. Senior Samantha Ortiz would have a great day from the plate going 2-3. However, the bats for Ouachita fell cold, and the Tigers would fall 2-1.

In the second game the Tigers would allow the Griffons an early lead of 5-0. Senior Kelsey O'Brien would come in the third inning to pitch. She would only allow one run and strikeout two in her 3.1 innings of work. Tobi Finley would provide a double to lead off for the Tigers in the bottom of the third but would not be able to score. The Tigers would fall to the Griffons 8-0 in the final game of the Crossover Classic.

The Tigers will be back in action February 15 in Bentonville, Ark. for the Alvy Ealy Memorial Invitational where they face off against Washburn University and University of Nebraska at Kearney.
