ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Lady Tigers used a hot start and strong fourth quarter to defeat interstate foe, Southern Arkansas.
Alivia Huell lead the way for the Ouachita as she scored 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and six steals.
Madison Brittain carved her name in the record books as she scored double digit points in 13 straight games for the Lady Tigers. She scored 15 and added 5 rebounds.
Maija Gertsone also added 13 points in the victory.
The Lady Tigers jumped out the gate as
Madison Brittain drained a three pointer in the first five seconds of the game
Maija Gertsone would follow Brittain with a three pointer of her own on to make the game 6-0. The Tigers would extend the lead out to 12-0 on an
Alivia Huell steal and layup at the 6:30 point. With 5:00 minutes left in the quarter
Madison Brittain would hit two free throws to give the Lady Tigers a 17-2 lead.
Eden Crow would hit a jumper with 27 seconds left to go into the second quarter with a 21-10 lead.
To start the second the Tigers would maintain a ten point lead with a
Madison Brittain three pointer. Ouachita would only score nine points in the quarter though as they would go into the half with a five point lead.
Out of the half the Tigers and Muleriders would exchange buckets until Southern Akansas would cut the lead to 33-32. On the next possession
Maija Gertsone would sink a corner three to give the Tigers a four point lead. The Lady Tigers would answer every SAU run including a 5-0 run to end the quarter and take an 43-38 lead at the end of the quarter.
Southern Arkansas would open the fourth with a 7-0 run and take their first lead of the game. Ouachita would fight back with a 5-0 run to take the lead back at 52-51 on a
Jakyya Clay layup. The Lady Tigers would outscore the Muleriders 8-2 in the last 50 seconds of the game and capture the win.
The Lady Tigers will be back in action Thursday February 21 at Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 5:30.
