ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Tiger Baseball sweeps Saturday double headers as
Brandon Matros and
Tyler Duck pick up wins on the day.
The Tigers combined for two shutouts on the day; in the first game they would run-rule Southern Nazarene 10-0 after seven innings and 1-0 in the second game.
In the first game the Tigers bats came to life as they would accumulate 13 hits earning 10 runs. The first runs of the game came as
Cade McBride tripled in the top of the second to score
Bo Sutton. He was then singled in by
Kade Stuart bringing the Tiger lead to 2-0.
Ouachita would extend its lead in the top of the third as
Logan Huneycutt would hit a double to score
Louis Steen and
Tyler Riebock.
Bo Sutton would continue adding runs for the Tigers as he would single home Honeycutt. Sutton would do it again in the fifth to give Ouachita a 6-0 lead.
The Tigers would put the nail in the coffin in the top of the sixth as
Aaron Studdard would triple home
Kade Stuart and
Pierce Mitchum.
Tyler Riebock would give the Tigers the 10 run advantage they would need as he hit his sixth homerun of the year.
Brandon Matros would be the only pitcher the Tigers would need as he would go seven innings giving up five hits but no runs and capturing his first win of the season.
The Tigers would put up six hits on Southern Nazarene in the second game and score one run. The run came in the top of the fourth as
Cade McBride would single in
Louis Steen to give Ouachita the only run, they would need in the game.
Tyler Duck would start the game for the Tigers and would go four innings only allowing two hits and no runs.
Luke Scaggs would pitch three innings in relief only allowing two hits and capturing his first save of the year.
The Tigers will return to action on Sunday March 3 as they close the Southern Nazarene weekend series. The game will start at Noon at Henderson State's field.
