ALVA, Okla. – Ouachita Softball takes series against Northwestern Oklahoma State by splitting the double header on Saturday.
Freshmen
Madison Miller and
Leighton Withers highlighted the day as Miller hit a grand slam and Withers hit a two run homerun in the first game of the day.
Tobi Finley would also hit a homerun on the day driving in two runs while scoring herself three times across the two games.
The Tigers would start the first game by going down 1-0 to the Rangers on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning. However, the Tigers would claw back into the game as
Tobi Finley would lead off the top of the third inning with a solo homerun to left-center field.
Callie Jourdan and
Kyndal Moyer would follow Finley with back to back singles.
Macy Wilson would walk and
Leighton Withers would drive in a run on a walk of her own. With two outs in the innings
Madison Miller would send a bomb to left field for the grand slam giving the Tigers a 6-1 lead.
Tobi Finley would continue to have a great day as she would double to start off the top of the fourth and would score on a sacrifice bunt by
Kyndal Moyer. The Tigers would not stop as in the top of the fifth
Leighton Withers would hit a homerun scoring
Macy Wilson and giving the Tigers a 9-1 advantage. Later in the innings
Tori Herbert would double and would come home on a
Tobi Finley single. Finley would end the game a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
Mabry Smith would go 4.1 innings only allowing two runs and striking out four batters.
Laurel Glatch would come in and close the game which included a strikeout of the last batter.
In the second game the Rangers would jump out to a 7-0 lead in the second inning including a three run homerun. The Tigers would score first in the fifth on a
Tori Herbert steal which would plate
Madison Miller on an error by the catcher. A few batters later
Callie Jourdan would drive Herbert and
Tobi Finley home on a triple down the left field line.
The Tigers will return to action on Tuesday March 26 as they face off against Henderson State in a rivalry double header starting at 4:00 PM.
