Game Recap: Softball | | Nick Bushart

Finley and Jones have Stellar Days against Savage Storm

DURANT, Okla. – Ouachita Softball hits the ball well in Oklahoma, but they in the end fall to Southeastern Oklahoma State in both double header games.

Tobi Finley had an incredible game from the plate as she would put in three hits and drive in two runs including a solo homerun in the second game. Kelsey O'Brien would only allow two hits in four innings only giving up two runs.

The Tigers would strike first in the opening inning of the second game. Tobi Finley would start the game by hitting a double to right center and would be moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kirsten Shaw. Jillian Jones would drive in Finley as she would double to left center in her first at bat coming off of an injury. After a Macy Wilson single, Tori Herbert would drive in jones on a sacrifice fly.

Ouachita would allow Southeastern to take a 4-2 lead into the seventh inning. The Tigers would not stop fighting though as they would start the inning off with a Natalie Jackson single. Tobi Finley would send a triple to right center to cut the lead to 4-3. However, the Tigers could not get Finley across the plate and Southeastern would take the first game 4-3.

In the second game the Tigers put Kelsey O'Brien in the circle and she would pitch lights out. She would pitch a no-hitter into the third inning. She would give up a single that Southeastern would eventually turn into a run as the runner would steal home. The only other hit she would give up was a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth as the Tigers would trail 2-0 into the sixth.

Tobi Finley would lead off the top of the sixth with a solo homerun. The Tigers would get back to back singles from Jillian Jones and Macy Wilson before Leighton Withers would drive in a run with a fielder's choice. The Tigers would, however, give up two runs in the bottom of the sixth that would be the game winning runs and the Tigers would drop game two.

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, March 3 as they face off against University of Arkansas at Monticello as 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
