Men's Soccer Ties in Great American Conference Opener

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tigers tie in their Great American Conference opener against Fort Hays State with a final of 2-2 at Kluck Field.

The Tigers got the scoring started early with a shot outside of the box from Hector Duron on an assist from Nery Flores at the 11:57 mark in the first half.

The Tigers of Fort Hays State would score two straight goals. With less than a minute left in the first half Ouachita would commit a penalty in the box that did not receive a penalty kick. It, however, did set up a goal by Antonio De La Torre. Then Fort Hays State would strike quickly in the second half by a Santiago Agudelo shot assisted by Arsenio Chamorro.

Ouachita did not give up though as in the last five minutes of the contest Abraham Lazo riffled in a goal to tie the game for the Tigers.

The goal ended the scoring for either side as there would be two overtime periods with no points put on the board.

There were 11 yellow cards given out in the game with Ouachita having six and Fort Hays State tallying five.

Ouachita is back in action on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Kluck Field against Newman University in their second conference game of the season.
