Box Score Arkadelphia, Ark. – Henderson State's size advantage proved costly as Ouachita was unable to defend above the rim, falling 88-66.
Kendarious Smith led the way for the Tigers with 19 points. Eric Brown contributed 11.
Chris Parker put up 17 points for the Reddies. Four other Reddies were also in double digits.
The Reddies size advantage was too much to handle as they dominated the paint game. Despite a quick start, the Tigers momentum fizzled once the Reddie's picked up the pace.
Both teams jumped out to hot offensive starts. Ten minutes in, Ouachita shot 75 percent from the field. The Reddies recognized the Tiger's offensive ease and began pressuring the ball in a full court defense.
Midway through the first half, Henderson started to heat up from deep stretching their lead out to a comfortable margin. A swing in momentum proved costly as the Tigers closed out the half shooting just 20 percent in the final ten minutes.
The Tigers went into halftime down 15.
The Tigers made a surge early in the second half, but it would not last long. Kendarious Smith led the burst with 14 points within the first ten minutes of the half but a cramp seemed to hinder his scoring ability down the stretch. The Reddies size stepped up to dominate above the rim with multiple alley-oop dunks getting the Reddie crowd heavily involved.
Henderson State closed things out with an emphatic 22-point victory.
Ouachita dropped their fourth in a row falling to 6-8, 3-6 in conference play, while Henderson State improved to 12-3, 7-2 in conference.
