Ouachita Gets Statement Win in Shawnee Over Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Tigers never trailed in route to a statement 64-62 win on the road against Oklahoma Baptist.

With under a minute to play Trey Harris bodied his way into the paint and sank a floater to give the Tigers a four-point advantage. Seconds later, the Bison answered with a bucket, but in the final possession the Tiger's defense clamped down to seal the game.

Allie Freeman and Trey Harris led the offensive charge for the Tigers sinking clutch buckets throughout the affair. Both scored 15.

For Oklahoma Baptist, Harrison Stoddart led all scorers with 16. Jarius Hicklen added 13.

The Tigers exploded out of the gates to the tune of a 20-6 lead. With dribble-drive aggression and well-executed ball movement, it was Ouachita's best start to a game this season.

Despite the early gut punch, the Bison never wavered. With under two to play till half, Oklahoma Baptist turned up the physicality to climb back into the game and tied it at 29.

To close the half, the Bison outscored the Tigers 24-12, but the Tiger's early cushion was enough to send them into halftime with a two-point lead.

Ouachita shot 80 percent from the field through the first nine minutes of the second half. The Bison was struggling from the outside, but the inside attack picked up the slack. Each time the Bison seemed to capture a slither of momentum the Tigers put a stop to it.

The game came down to the final possession, but the Tigers slammed the door and earned a much-needed victory.
