MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Lady Tigers played stellar defense all day, but in the end fall to the Southern Arkansas Muleriders 67-65.
The Lady Tigers held the lead for over 30 minutes, but the Muleriders came surging back in the final minutes. With a little over six to play, Madison Raney made a free threw to the put the Lady Tigers up by 10.
Despite the cushion, in the next four minutes SAU went on a 15-0 run and carried the momentum through the final buzzer to hand the Lady Tigers the loss.
For Ouachita, Eden Crow had a big day with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Madison Raney added 16 points and Jakyya Clay contributed 10.
Diamond Morris led the Muleriders with 18. Kisi Young and Ariana Guinn both added 12.
The Lady Tiger's defensive aggression was evident in the first ten minutes as SAU turned it over 10 times and only mustered four points. After one, the Lady Tigers held a six-point lead.
Ouachita extended its lead out to 13-5, but the Muleriders came charging back. With just over five to play till half, Southern Arkansas took a 17-16 lead as it seemed the momentum was shifting the Muleriders way.
The Tigers quickly put a stop to SAU's run and went into halftime with a 28-22 lead.
Ouachita came out of halftime with a clear urgency and determination. The Lady Tiger's largest lead was 12 and all the momentum was with Ouachita heading into the fourth quarter.
Despite, the stellar first three quarters, the Lady Tigers were unable to hold on as Southern Arkansas stole the win away.
The Lady Tigers dropped to 4-20, 1-17 in conference play, while Southern Arkansas improved to 16-8, 9-8 in conference.
