ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers took care of business in a blowout victory over the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys 83-63.
The Tigers made an early statement that this game belonged to the home team and the home team, did indeed, walk away victorious. Ouachita dominated on both ends of the ball from start to finish to blow the Wonder Boys out by 20.
Four Tigers were in double digits with Allie Freeman and Kendarious Smith both scoring 17. Isaiah Harper added 12 and Jacob Street contributed 10.
Dillon Gooding led the Wonder Boys with 16 points. Ke'Lyn Adams added 12.
The Tigers came out with high energy and a precise game plan. Outside ball movement led to early success for Ouachita as the Tigers drained four of its first six 3-point opportunities. The Tigers would finish 57 percent from deep.
Ouachita's defense lived in Tech's passing lanes and kept its hands engaged to make offense tough for the Wonder Boys. With five to play till half, the Tigers extended its lead to nine on back-to-back 3-pointers by Allie Freeman. Ouachita played a complete first half to take a 45-29 lead into halftime.
The Tigers came out with the same intensity to start the second half as it did the first. The Wonder Boys had no answer for the Tiger's aggressive offense and suffocating defense. With just under 13 to play, Ouachita stretched its lead out to 26.
Arkansas Tech tried to fight back into it, but the Tigers proved to be too much for the Wonder Boys to handle.
This Tiger win puts the team in great position to continue its stretch run at a GAC Tournament berth.
