MONTICELLO, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University volleyball team picked up its second win over Arkansas-Monticello this season with a five-set victory on Thursday on the road.
The first win over UAM, back on September 23 in Arkadelphia, also needed five sets to decide a victor. Thursday's win over the Blossoms (8-17, 2-10 GAC) came by final scores of 25-19, 10-25, 25-22, 23-25, and 15-8.
Kayla Steinmeyer was responsible for 21.5 points in the win. She had 17 kills, three service aces, and three blocks. The St. Charles, Mo. native also posted 18 digs, which is a new career-high.
Other offensive leaders for the Tigers (8-17, 3-9 GAC) included
EJ Day and
Emily Low with 12 kills each. Day added 13 digs, and Low led the team with four blocks.
Temi Fayiga and
Kellen Church shared the setting duties in the win. Fayiga had a season-high 23 assists. Church had 22.
Defensively,
Lexie Castillow posted 32 digs, her fourth match of the season reaching the 30-dig mark.
Ouachita is back at home for two matches next week, against Harding on Tuesday and Southern Arkansas on Thursday.
