RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University volleyball team finished the 2021 season with a hard-fought three-set loss to Arkansas Tech on the road Thursday.
Final game scores were 25-23, 25-22, 25-21, all in favor of the Golden Suns (19-7, 13-3 GAC).
The Tigers (9-20, 4-12 GAC) went back-and-forth with Tech in the first set, until the Suns used an 8-0 to erase Ouachita's lead and go up 14-8. Ouachita later took a 22-19 lead over Tech following four straight points, two of which coming on kills by Emily Low. The Suns immediately responded with three straight, and closed out the set with four of the final five points.
In the second set, Tech posted an early 5-0 run to go up 9-5. Ouachita climbed back into the set and took a lead on two different occasions, including late at 20-19. The Suns responded with four straight to get back on top.
The longest run in the third set was four in a row for Tech early to go up 10-6. Ouachita found itself down big 23-16, and rallied to make it a three-point game at 24-21. The Suns responded to Ouachita's 5-1 run with a kill to seal the match.
