WBB SET FOR FINAL NON-CONFERENCE ROAD GAME

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team closes out November with its final non-conference road game of the 2021-22 season this Saturday, November 27.

The Tigers (1-1) travel to Claremore, Oklahoma to take on Rogers State on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Claremore Expo Center. Live stats and live streaming video will be available. Links can be found at OBUtigers.com/coverage.

TIGER TRACKS

  • Ouachita picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday, outscoring Champion Christian 51-16 in the second half for a final 92-54 margin.       
  • The Tigers are getting positive production from underclassmen, led by freshman Aspen Thornton, who is leading the team in scoring at 23.5 points per game. She is second on the team in rebounds at 6.5 per game, leads the team in assists, and is second in the team in steals. The Hot Springs native is shooting 44 percent from the field, and is nearly perfect at the free-throw line (11-for-12).
  • Thornton's average of 23.5 points per game ranks fifth in the nation and second in the GAC.
  • Junior Makayla Miller is second on the team in scoring at 17 points per game. Freshman Laney Mears is also in double-digits at 16 points per game.
  • Lauren Wright is Ouachita's top rebounder so far with an average of 7.5 boards per game.
  • The Tigers are averaging 79.5 points per game, while giving up an average of 61.5 points per outing.

SCOUTING ROGERS STATE

  • The Hillcats are 3-2 so far this season following their most recent outing, a 71-63 win over Southwest Baptist on Tuesday on the road. Prior to that game, RSU dropped a home game to fellow Great American Conference member Southern Arkansas this past Saturday by a score of 84-76.
  • RSU has four scorers averaging double-digits, led by Bailey Kliewer at 16.6 points per game. She also leads the team with an average of 6.6 point per game.
  • RSU was picked to finish 12th out of 14 teams in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association, following a 6-16 finish last season.
  • Saturday's game will be the fourth time Ouachita and Rogers State have met since 2017. The Tigers are 2-1 against the Hillcats during that span, and won the most recent outing in 2019 by a final score of 86-64 in Arkadelphia.
