ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University women's basketball team seeks its third consecutive victory this Saturday when it travels to Magnolia to take on Southern Arkansas in Great American Conference action.

TIGER TRACKS
- Ouachita enters this Saturday's game with a 3-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in GAC games.
- The Tigers most recently picked up an 80-59 win over Williams Baptist on Wednesday at home in the team's final non-conference game of the 2021-22 season.
- The Tigers evened its GAC record this past Saturday, picking up a dominant win over Harding at home by a final score of 82-60. It was the biggest scoring margin for Ouachita over Harding since 2001.
- Ouachita has the fourth-best scoring offense in the GAC this season at 79.3 points per game, while ranking ninth in scoring defense, giving up 69 points per game.
- Ouachita has is in the top half in the league in most defensive categories, including third in turnovers forced (22.5 per game), first in three-point defense (23.3 percent), fourth in steals per game (12.3), and first in field goal percentage defense (36.2 percent).
- Aspen Thornton has had an impressive start to her Ouachita career. In six games so far, her lowest point total has been 17. She has reached the 20-point mark in all-but-one game. She scored a modern-day school record 43 points in last week's loss to Arkansas Tech. Most recently, she scored 33 points in Wednesday's win over Williams Baptist. Her average of 27 points per game leads all of NCAA Division II.
- Two other Ouachita scorers are averaging in double-digits with Makayla Miller at 17.2 points per game and freshman Laney Mears at 11.5.
- Lauren Wright has been Ouachita's top rebounder so far this season with an average of seven per game. Claudia Vanzant follows closely at 6.7.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
- The Muleriders enter Saturday's game at 5-2 overall and 1-1 in GAC games.
- Most recently, SAU eclipsed the century mark in a 112-99 win over Henderson State this past Saturday at home.
- SAU and Ouachita have a pair of common opponents so far this season. SAU lost to Harding 93-90, a team Ouachita beat 82-60. SAU beat Rogers State earlier this season 84-76, a team Ouachita lost to 82-71.
- SAU leads the GAC and ranks second in the nation in scoring at 92 points per game. The Muleriders rank last in the GAC and second to last in the nation in scoring defense, giving up 84 points per game.
- Kisi Young is SAU's top scorer and rebounder with an average of 15.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. SAU has four others that are averaging in double-digits in scoring.
- Since the creation of the GAC in 2011, Ouachita holds a 14-8 series advantage over SAU. Ouachita beat SAU 102-86 in the lone regular season matchup last season, and used a buzzer beater to beat the Muleriders 85-84 in the first round of the GAC tournament. Ouachita has won seven of the last nine meetings.
