ARKADELPHIA – Tylar Haynes turned in a double-double to lead the Ouachita Baptist University men's basketball team on Saturday in its 70-60 loss to Arkansas-Monticello at home.
Haynes finished the game with 17 points and 10 rebounds. It was Ouachita's first double-double of the 2021-22 season and career-highs for Haynes in both categories. Haynes was 8-for-9 from the field, and also added to the defensive efforts with three blocked shots.
As for Saturday's team results, the Weevils (7-3, 3-1 GAC) outscored Ouachita (2-8, 0-4 GAC) 38-27 in the second half to secure the win after a one-point game in the first half.
The Tigers held their largest lead of the game of six points early in the second half on a free-throw by Haynes to complete an old-fashioned three-point play.

Ouachita trimmed its deficit down to seven with two minutes remaining on a three-pointer by Ma'Darius Hobson, but that was all the Tigers could muster as the Weevils closed out the game with six unanswered points, four coming on free throws.
In addition to Haynes' production, Hobson also reached double-figures in scoring with 10 points, while adding seven rebounds.
