Ouachita Baptist shut down the Great American Conference's top scoring duo Saturday in a 71-62 victory at Harding on Saturday.
Ma'Darius Hobson led all scorers with 19 points and
Deaveon Bankston recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Tigers took a two-point lead into the locker room at halftime. After three ties and a short-lived one-point Harding lead in the first seven minutes of the second period, the Tigers put the game on ice down the stretch. After
DJ Kane's three-pointer with 11:46 to play made it a 48-44 game, the Tigers never led by less than four points.
Ouachita made six of its final eight free throws in the final 12 minutes to help put the game on ice.
Harding's Ramiro Santiago and Romio Harvey, the No. 1 and No. 2 scorers in the GAC entering Saturday's game, combined for 20 points. They came in averaging 20.4 and 19.4 points per game, respectively.Â
