Ouachita Wins GAC Tournament in Overtime Thriller

THE RUNDOWN

No. 2 seed Ouachita Baptist and No. 1 Oklahoma Baptist finished regulation in a scoreless deadlock in the championship game of the Great American Conference Tournament in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on Saturday. Frankie Nine's goal in the 100th minute gave the Tigers their first GAC Tournament title since 2014.

Ouachita created some danger early in the second half, forcing Bison netminder Mia Pendleton to make four of the first five saves of the half. Tiger goalie Michele Snow stood tall, making five saves in regulation.

The Bison outshot the Tigers 20-8 in regulation, a number Ouachita reversed in extra time. The visitors attempted six shots in overtime, compared to the home squad's two.

All six of those overtime shots were on target. Pendleton saved the first five, but with 57 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, Nine went top right for the game winner.

Jaymee Dotson earned Tournament MVP honors. She scored the winning goal against Southern Nazarene in the semifinals. Snow, Meagan North, Erica Gaddie and Ashlyn Lynch joined Dotson on the All-Tournament Team.
